About Crista Tharp
First of all, you should know, I LOVE what I do.
I have a fabulous job; I get to celebrate moments with people that will be remembered for a lifetime. Events are about sharing and creating, not about the color palate and decorations no one will remember. They are about creating legacies and memories that will keep you laughing and tearing up for years to come.
I came from a family that taught hospitality like they taught love; consistently and abundantly. When asked why I do what I do, this is what I tell them, “My family lives it – it’s in my blood.” My parents know how to throw a party, and I learned from the best. Now, I bring my love and those skills for planning and coordinating to my business, where I help hundreds of people a year make memories of their own.
One month after graduating from IU, I married my incredibly handsome High School sweetheart, Chad. I’m not quite sure what really happened after that – it seems like a blur, but my stud muffin husband and I had baby after baby. The final count is 10 all from 22-7 years old. I told you he was a stud. My family is a constant source of humor, creativity, and passion for me. They ground me and you will see it in my work.
Once I started planning and coordinating events, I never looked back. With over 20 years in the event industry, I am well-educated and well-connected. I am very good at what I do. I am not your normal event planner, I will keep you laughing and looking at the things that really matter. I have great relationships with exceptional vendors and you can be confident that I have the expertise to guide you through what could be a very costly and overwhelming experience. In fact, I have written several books and products created to make Bride & Groom's lives much easier. Check out my Products Page to see what products can help you!
I take my business very seriously. If you trust me and my awesome team with your event, please be assured that I will do everything possible to exceed your expectations. I am well-known for creating events that bring out the personality of my clients and for going out of my way to make things happen. I firmly believe that a planner/coordinator’s job is to enhance all of the other vendors that you have chosen to assist you with your event. We work together as a team to make your event run as smoothly as possible.
It is my promise to make your event planning experience Blissfully Simple.

Meet the Blissfully Simple Team
Kristina Vazquez Lead Planner
Kristina Vazquez: Domestic engineer, caffeine addict, lover of wine & all things comfy. Fluent in sarcasm and geek speak. Married to a beast of a man. Mom to an awkward preteen and an overly excitable diva. I love doing weddings because it gets me out of the house at least one time of the week for 12 hours a day. No, really, I love doing weddings! Can’t wait to help make your special day blissfully simple.
Emili Kessler Lead Planner
Emili Kessler: I’m like an old lady; I like to garden, cook & travel. But I embrace my inner Betty White. I love planning and organizing - oh look - more old lady stuff! I really enjoy being creative which helps when working with Brides and helping them realize their vision. Being a wedding planner brings out the super-organized, type A, perfectionist you want helping you plan your wedding. Take that Betty White!
Jessi Gebhardt Event Assistant
Don’t let my silence fool you. I may not talk a lot, but I know when to speak up, like when guests start tazing each other for fun (true story). I love my job. Watching people have fun on one of the best days of their lives is pretty awesome. Knowing that I am a small part of making that happen is pretty cool too. It’s my job to make sure your day is even more incredible than you ever expected it to be, and I take that seriously.
Mallory Roller Event Assistant
I’m a music junkie, tend to like dogs more than people, engaged to a stud and hope to travel the world. I really enjoy photography and I’m obsessed with anything wedding. That makes my job with Blissfully Simple Events more than perfect. We have fun & work hard so your day is more than you ever dreamed of.
Rebecca Mundell Event Assistant
I communicate in movie quotes & song lyrics. I love the outdoors. I go hiking & camping - ON PURPOSE. I am pretty accident prone, but don’t worry, it’s not contagious. I’m the aunt of 5 so I don’t have to have my own. I am very detail oriented and organized so being an event planner is a perfect way for me to channel my anxiety. So let my anxiety work for you!
Emily Tharp Event Assistant (in training)
I’m a freshman at Northwestern High School, in a leadership position in the marching band. I’m practically a mom of 6 (my section and two guinea pigs). Yes, I’m Crista’s daughter but don’t worry she forgets most of the time too. I’m going to be a clinical psychologist, so I thought it would be fun to be around emotionally unstable women during one of the most stressful days of their lives. I mean I love working weddings. :0)
Alyvia Vazquez Event Assistant (in training)
I’m just a small time girl living in a lonely world…sorry, I picked that up from literally every event I’ve ever been to, like ever. I’m a 14 year old aspiring photographer. I live for color guard, music and capturing the world on the other side of my lens. My main muse is my little sister, Eva the Diva, who is super cute & super obnoxious. Kristina is my mom, and while she’s kind of crazy, I’m more quiet and socially awkward, so we make a pretty good team. I love working weddings because it gives me a ton of opportunities to work with other photographers and to learn and grow in my creativity.
